"Bulma is a 5-year old beagle-shepherd mix who has always loved the outdoors. This became a problem after we moved to an apartment downtown. Though we were walking her at least three times each day and taking her to the dog park, she started expressing her boredom through aggression. We immediately contacted Lance for help. After doing a consultation with Bulma, Lance tailored our training sessions to meet her individual needs. He taught us ways to keep our dogs both physically and mentally engaged so now they are happy both on and off the leash. Peanut is a 5 pound yorkie with a big personality. Like many other small dogs, she makes herself known by barking constantly. We spent quite a few years trying to break her habit, but it wasn't until working with Lance that we finally saw some success. After Lance taught us how to effectively communicate with our dogs through his balance training, Peanut quickly learned some new commands."  - Kira

"We were seeking out help for our puppy's separation anxiety and was recommended to try Lance. He not only worked with my schedule and location but educated us on how to properly address this issue. Indy has improved immensely after a few training sessions and we greatly appreciated his help. I've recommended him to friends and would contact him again when we get a new puppy." - Alexis

We are so grateful to have found Lance to help us train our new puppy Kafer. He explains things in such a way that makes sense, so when we go to practice everything in between our sessions, we can do it the same way. He's teaching methods that will be sure to make Kafer a good dog, even off-leash. Lance's experience with dogs shows in the way he handles the dog and knows how to change his instruction based upon the way Kafer responds. He's not just speaking from textbook training. It's clear he has real-life experience. We would be lost trying to train Kafer without Lance's direction. We needed to be trained ourselfs on how to train a dog and Lance is very patient with us and our kids as well.

"Before Lance started working with us, walking these two was a nightmare. They pulled, were horribly distracted, lunged at any nearby dogs, and made walking a miserable experience.  After walking them I'd be in a rage, embarrassed,  and in tears. Lance changed all that!  The improvement in their behavior was life-changing even after our first session. I had lost all hope of ever having an enjoyable walk with these two. I can happily report that I am proud of their behavior as they heel, stay by my side, walk WITH me, come when instructed, and refrain from lunging at nearby dogs. Lance has greatly improved their lives and mine too!  Thanks Lance!"  - Rona

Hello! My name is Lance Kalahar and I’ve been fortunate enough to turn my passion for dogs into a career that just reached it’s 11 year mark! I began my dog training career as Military Working Dog Trainer in 2011, and since then I’ve explored different dog training arenas from dog fighting rehabilitation, to explosive detection for professional sports, service dog training, and search & rescue training. From that unconventional path, I’ve developed a convenient at-home, reality-based dog training program that caters to you and your pup’s specific needs and goals.

I use balanced training techniques, meaning I teach new tasks in a fun , motivational manner through positive reinforcement, then, once the dog completely understands the command, I will teach appropriate consequences when your dog decides not to listen. This way, you still maintain a great relationship with your dog but he/she won’t have “selective obedience”. Instead, they’ll listen to you the first time you ask, regardless of the scenario and without relying on bribes likes toys and treats!
